Re: 2018 Annual Service Report
We are pleased to share encouraging highlights from the 2018 service year report of Jeho- vah’s Witnesses worldwide. The peak number of publishers was 8,579,909. Jehovah’s people spent a total of 2,074,655,497 hours in the ministry, a 1.4 percent increase from last year. It is especially encouraging to note that 281,744 were baptized! This is evidence that Jehovah’s people take seri- ously the commission to "make disciples." (Matt. 28:19) We were delighted to see a 1.5 percent in- crease in the number of regular pioneers, totaling 1,243,392! The worldwide Memorial attendance figure was 20,329,317. Other significant features of the service year report will soon be available on jw.org and in JW Library, Watchtower ONLINE LIBRARY, and Watchtower Library. These figures provide conclusive evidence of Jehovah’s blessing on our work.—Isa. 60:22.
In Japan, 212,461 Kingdom publishers, including 65,541 regular pioneers, spent a total of 80,236,939 hours in the work to search for those who are "rightly disposed for everlasting life" and to help them to become disciples. (Acts 13:48) Happily, 2,050 got baptized, which means a 4 per- cent increase over the previous year and 294,296 attended the memorial. That is over 3,000 more than compared with the previous year.
The preaching work is also being well done in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Mongolia, and Nepal, countries that the Japan branch cares for. In Bangladesh, 299 publishers, a 1.4 percent increase over the previous year, preached vigorously and a new peak of 15 got baptized. The average number of publishers in Cambodia is 1,140, a 5 percent increase over the previous year. At the memorial 3,023 attended, thus reaching the 3,000 mark for the first time. In Mongolia, even though a legal issue was raised as regards the religious corporation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2017, 441 faithful brothers and sisters kept on preaching without flinching. There are 196 regular pioneers which is an increase of over 3 times the number compared with ten years ago. In Nepal, the number in attendance at the memorial was 8,097, which is more than 3 times the number of publishers. A total of 2,593 King- dom publishers, which is 5 percent more than the previous year, are preaching the truth about Jeho- vah God and his purposes boldly using the revised New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures in Nepali that was released last spring. In Japan and other countries, Jehovah is seeing to it that the work is making progress.
Be assured that Jehovah values your faithful service and that he will continue to give you the necessary strength to "fully accomplish your ministry" in the coming year!—2 Tim. 4:5; Isa. 40:31.
